Earth from Above

Earth from Above is a renowned international outdoor photography exhibition by famed French photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand that made its Australian premiere in Melbourne in September 2006 and premiered in Sydney in July 2007.

The brief
Keep Left was engaged by Australian event promoter Global Nomad to launch the exhibitions in both cities via intensive public relations campaigns designed to raise mainstream awareness, drive traffic to the exhibitions and convey the sustainability messages behind the breathtaking images.

How we helped
Keep Left implemented three stage programs in each city, targeting ‘what's on' pages and events diaries and negotiating exclusive pictorial spreads featuring images from the exhibition in metropolitan print media in the lead up to the openings. The team also executed a large-scale media launch for the Melbourne presentation, which was opened by Lord Mayor John So, and secured live TV broadcasts from both the Melbourne and Sydney exhibitions. Other key activities included securing media partnerships, marketing communications, advertising, sponsorship liaison and stakeholder management.

The results
In total, Keep Left generated more than $2 million in editorial value for the Melbourne and Sydney campaigns. More than 178 pieces of media coverage were generated including live broadcasts on Channel Nine's Today Show and Channel Seven's evening news, as well as full page stories in The Age , Herald Sun, Sydney Morning Herald, Sun Herald, Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph . Exhibition founder and photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand was also featured in a cover story on Channel Nine's flagship current affairs program, Sunday .
